East Coast Messenger Stage Race

Follow on ECMSR Twitter for live updates! Like the Facebook Page to see photos!

Registration: 8 AM, Revolution Bikes, 383 Centre St, Jamaica Plain, MA $25 Suggested Fee. Pay what you like. I will log your name, cell phone number(s), Twitter account if you have it and team. You will receive a number patch & pins.

Here is the google map with all start and finish locations: ECMSR Google Map

Format: You will self-route from start to finish. Some stages will include primes, these locations will be revealed to you well in advance. When each stage begins every racer will receive a text message announcing the start from this number: (347) 927-4847. To counter your individual carrier's lag, I will announce that this text has been sent at the same time and you are free to leave at that point. 3-4 hours after receiving this text each rider must respond via text with an update of their race including their racer number. Descriptions can be frank, humorous, florid, it's up to you and your style but should not exceed 140 characters including your racer number. Some or all of these will post to twitter.

At each finish point there will be a code posted. You must text this code back to (347) 927-4847. The order I receive these texts will determine stage finishes and the times they are received your overall time in the general classification. If your code is incorrect it will not count, so check and make sure. If you text the wrong code by accident you are permitted to text again with correct code. There will be someone either myself or volunteer present to take down your number and approximate time of arrival. The order that this is recorded will not determine your stage finish but will serve to ensure you were present at the finish when you texted the code.

Every stage will have awards for individual stage win, fixed gear stage win, individual general classification & team general classification. There will be a fixed gear gc prize in DC as well.

Each rider's individual stage times will be added together. Lowest overall is the GC winner. There is no cap on team size. Team ranking is determined by the cumulative time of the top 3 riders per team. You do not need to be on a team to race but there is no reason not to be.

Necessary items, you need these to start the race: Lights Repair kit (flats and minor adjustments, mini pump) Cycling Computer Phone with texting capabilities

Suggested Items: Smart Phone or detailed map Bedding (couches and floors will be provided but you should provide your own sleeping bags and pads) Clothes for 5 days Water system (bottles or camelbak) Nutrition (Red Bull & Raw Revolution will be providing product to racers and I don't think we'll run out) Spare tires and other parts your bike may need (lots of bike shops between Boston and DC but better safe than sorry) Fenders & rain gear, plastic baggies for electronics Enough money for 5 days' worth of food and emergencies
